Late goal secures rare win for Bolton against Wigan

Chris Forino's last-minute goal helped Bolton secure their first win against local rivals Wigan in over ten years.

Forino tapped in a corner in the third minute of added time to seal Bolton's victory against the Latics for the first time since a match in January 2015.

The match had a fiery ending, as a confrontation in the technical area led to Wigan manager Ryan Lowe being shown a red card and goalkeeping coach Andy Lonergan receiving a yellow card.

Bolton, the away team, started the game strong, with Joel Randall almost scoring from a shot that was deflected just wide by former Bolton player Will Aimson.

On the other side, Maleace Asamoah missed a great opportunity with a header from a Jonny Smith cross that didn't hit the target.

In the second half, Bolton continued to dominate possession but struggled to break through the Wigan defense.

George Thomason's long-distance attempt was saved by Wigan keeper Sam Tickle, and Aaron Collins had a good chance to score, but his shot was deflected out for a corner.

Just when it seemed like the match would end in a draw, Bolton capitalized on a corner that Wigan failed to clear, allowing Forino to score from close range.
