Alexander Isak made history by becoming the first player to score 20 Premier League goals in consecutive seasons for Newcastle. He opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, marking his 24th goal of the season and 20th in the league.

Bryan Mbeumo equalized for Brentford with a penalty, but it was Tonali's stunning winner in the 74th minute that secured the win for Newcastle, propelling them to fifth place with a game in hand over their rivals.

Newcastle had multiple chances with Isak, but it was Tonali's remarkable strike that stole the show at St James' Park, delighting the home fans in the crowd of 52,021.
