Inter Milan and Manchester City share 0-0 draw in Champions League debut

Manchester City had a disappointing performance in their Champions League match against Inter Milan, ending in a 0-0 draw.

The game lacked the intensity of their previous encounter in the 2023 final, with City struggling to break through Inter's strong defense at the Etihad Stadium.

Although Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan had late chances, it was Inter's Matteo Darmian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who missed the best opportunities of the night.

City debuted their new European kit inspired by Oasis, but their performance did not live up to expectations.

Despite their usual patient play in the first half, City found it difficult to create scoring opportunities and were vulnerable to Inter's quick counter-attacks.

If Inter had been more clinical in front of goal, they could have taken the lead.

City managed only one shot on target in the first half, with Erling Haaland's header easily saved by Yann Sommer.

Inter had their chances as well, but failed to test Ederson on multiple occasions.

In the second half, Darmian missed a clear chance by attempting a backheel instead of a shot, much to the disbelief of coach Simone Inzaghi.

City's performance improved with Foden and Gundogan coming on as substitutes, creating some scoring opportunities.

Despite late efforts from both teams, the match ended in a goalless draw with neither side able to find the back of the net.
