Peterborough Triumphs Over Crawley with Ricky-Jade Jones' Penalty Calmness

Ricky-Jade Jones scored a penalty in extra time to secure a thrilling 4-3 win for Peterborough against relegation-threatened Crawley.

Jones remained calm to resolve the situation after Ade Adeyemo brought down Abraham Odoh.

Odoh, the forward, netted three goals in the first half within 21 minutes, giving Posh a 3-2 lead at halftime.

Scott Lindsey, the manager, had urged Crawley's supporters to support the team similar to their backing at Wembley last season when the Red Devils earned promotion through the playoffs.

Crawley took the lead early on when Armando Quitirna rounded the goalkeeper Jed Steer after Jeremy Kelly's pass into the box in the 12th minute.

Crawley keeper Jojo Wollacott maintained the home team's advantage by tipping Tayo Edun's free-kick over the bar, but Odoh leveled the score in the 22nd minute with a precise shot assisted by Kwame Poku.

Odoh scored his second goal with an impressive half-volley from 15 yards out seven minutes later, giving Peterborough the lead. However, Kelly equalized for Crawley in the 32nd minute with a delicate finish from close range following good play by Kamari Doyle.

Odoh completed his hat-trick just before halftime, tapping in a cross at the far post from Malik Mothersille and Poku.

Doyle tested Steer with a shot saved by his legs before Rushian Hepburn-Murphy leveled the score at 3-3, scoring his first home goal in four months shortly after the second half began.

Crawley pushed forward, hitting the post through Doyle's shot, and Steer denied Bradley Ibrahim's effort with a save.

In stoppage time, Peterborough's substitutes - Ryan de Havilland, Mahamadou Susoho, and Cian Hayes - had chances before Jones' decisive penalty.
