Barnet climb to third spot following victory against Braintree

Barnet won their match against Braintree with a 3-1 score and continued their perfect record at home this season. This victory also helped them move up to third place in the National League standings.

The game started with Braintree's John Akinde scoring against his former team in the first minute. However, Barnet quickly turned things around with goals from Mark Shelton, Callum Stead, and an own goal from Braintree's George Langston.

Akinde showcased his speed on the right side before scoring the opening goal. Shelton then equalized with a shot from inside the box, followed by Stead's header giving Barnet the lead before halftime.

Stead came close to scoring another goal but hit the post, while Braintree's Inih Effiong had a goal attempt blocked. Braintree later appealed for a penalty in the second half after Callum Powell was brought down in the box, but the referee waved off their claims.

In the final minutes of the game, Barnet sealed their victory when Langston unintentionally redirected Zak Brunt's cross into his own net.
