Manchester United dominate Barnsley at Old Trafford

Manchester United achieved their largest victory under manager Erik ten Hag with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Christian Eriksen scoring two goals each in a 7-0 win against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

While some Premier League clubs focused on their Champions League matches, Manchester United took on League One team Barnsley in their pursuit of a third trophy under ten Hag.

The Red Devils dominated the game from the start and easily advanced to the third round at Old Trafford. Goals from Garnacho, Rashford, Eriksen, and Antony's penalty secured a comfortable victory.

This victory marked ten Hag's biggest win since becoming manager in 2022, surpassing the 4-1 wins against Real Betis and Chelsea in other competitions.

New signing Manuel Ugarte and academy player Toby Collyer, who previously led the Under-21s to victory against Barnsley, made their first starts for Manchester United as ten Hag made eight changes to the team.

Barnsley struggled throughout the match, with Manchester United's dominance evident as Rashford, Antony, and Garnacho scored in the first half.

Eriksen and Rashford added more goals in the second half, sealing a comprehensive victory for Manchester United before ten Hag made substitutions to prepare for the next round.

With a place in the fourth-round draw secured, Manchester United finished the game strongly with goals from Eriksen and Fernandes to complete the 7-0 rout.
