Promotion-chasing Wycombe managed to secure a 0-0 draw against bottom-of-the-table Shrewsbury despite their 30 shots at Adams Park.
The hosts missed an opportunity to narrow the gap on second-placed Wrexham, who were held at Cambridge, and maintain a three-point lead having played an additional game in the League One promotion race.
Wycombe entered the game aiming for their third consecutive league victory, something they had not accomplished since November, and dominated the first half.
Leading goalscorer Richard Kone came close twice, but failed to hit the target on both occasions, including a header wide from a Jasper Pattenden cross.
Former Wycombe goalkeeper Jamal Blackman made a spectacular save to deny Xavier Simons’ long-range shot, while Garath McCleary and Cameron Humphreys missed the target.
Shrewsbury had two clear opportunities to score, with both chances falling to George Lloyd, who squandered both of them.
In the second half, Wycombe pushed hard, with McCleary, Cameron Humphreys, and Kone all coming close to scoring.
Simons was once again stopped by Blackman, and Sonny Bradley, Sam Vokes, James Berry, and Jack Grimmer created chaos in the Shrewsbury penalty area, but Michael Appleton's team defended resolutely.
